Welcome address by ceo

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, I am eternally grateful to God Almighty for how far he has brought the HERE FOR PERFECTION (H4P) ORGANIZATION!
It’s been over 14 years and counting but to me it still looks like it was yesterday! I remember the initial meetings where I shared the vision of H4P.

I remember the fears, anxieties, apprehensions and cautious excitements, expressed by those who loved us and I particularly can’t forget the discouragements and oppositions from the naysayers and cynics. But we pressed on, and the HERE FOR PERFECTION SEED that was planted nine years ago is still growing strong!

As we celebrate our 12th anniversary, I see it as a moment of gratitude and reflection. I’m grateful to God for the release of divine strength, protection and wisdom for the H4P Organization. I am also grateful to the good people of Ghana and the several individuals beyond the shores of Ghana who sympathize with our cause and support us in diverse ways. To all our patrons and well-wishers, I say God richly bless you! This moment is also an important time where as an organization we reflect on where we have been and where we are going.

We started small but our impact has been great. H4P was birthed out of a passion to solve the very common but gargantuan problem of discrimination against the vulnerable in society through our special advocacy for persons with disability and anti-malaria campaign.  And ten years down the line, H4P has become a major voice for the disabled community in Ghana.

In just ten years, H4P has become like the proverbial precocious child, having achieved landmark feats in the history of Ghana, like the H4P National Inter-Schools Disability Fun Games, which brings together various special schools from across the country and the Helping Hand TV Show, the only TV program in Ghana that is wholly dedicated to issues on disability! With all these as feathers in our cap, H4P has not arrived yet and I dare say, that we have just begun our journey of perfection.

In spite of all the progress we have made in this short period, there have been times when the promise land of our vision and mandate seem to recede from us, primarily because we have not been able to, as yet, secure any reliable source of funding.
During those difficult periods, there were temptations, ever so strong, to truncate the journey and bring our Perfection dream to an end but the grace of the Lord was sufficient for us and we hoped against hope, to see another day come with another opportunity to move closer to our perfection dream of bringing dignity to disability and preserving the lives of the next generation of leaders!

As we celebrate ten years of extraordinary achievements and worth-while challenges, we have a duty to also equip ourselves for the next ten years.
We are humbled by the task ahead of us, we are mindful of the sacrifices that will be required of us, we are encouraged by the partnerships of our affiliates and we are indeed grateful for the support of the good people of Ghana and all our well-wishers all over the world. We acknowledge that the journey of the next ten years will not be easy but we are also determined to work hard to validate the fact that we are HERE FOR PERFECTION.

We pledge as an organization to work hard to improve the state of the disability landscape and promote growing awareness of equality in spite of disability in the society.
As an organization, we will strive to hold high an enduring spirit that will break down the walls of discrimination in our dear nation, Ghana. We pledge to be the comfort of mothers who are struggling to raise their children with disability, and the hope of a bright future for fathers who see no hope in their disabled children.

As an organization, as we ponder the next phase and anxiously gaze at the unchartered paths that lay ahead, we are prepared to be the embodiment of selfless service. Even in the face of the lack of funding, we are ready to inspire within ourselves, the willingness to find meaning and put purpose to every endeavor by employing our creative skills to continue to raise the funds needed (via our melodrama concerts), to better the lot of people with disability.

As we enter a new phase in our journey of perfection, our challenges might be new, our oppositions unknown but we will build our capacity, as an organization to surmount the hurdles of the days and years ahead. Our confidence as an organization is in the fact that we are willing to learn and grow. We are willing to take risks and mature. And this we will do because we are HERE FOR PERFECTION!
